For individuals and families who are adequately prepared for disaster, recovery can begin almost as soon as the emergency occurs. Depending on the nature and severity of the disaster, recovery will need to occur on individual, family, and community levels.

Individuals and families can enhance recovery by activities such as:

  • Knowing what your insurance will and will not cover
  • Keeping copies of important documentation in a safe place outside your home
  • Listening to public information announcements on safe return to evacuated areas and recovery actions
  • Access community services to help with coping (links)

REMO works to enhance recovery by activities such as :

  • Facilitating Disaster Financial Assistance
  • Providing public information on cleanup efforts
  • Working with outside agencies to rebuild the community
